2025 Pennants – Round 10 Match Review
Final Round of the Season
As the sun set on a fantastic 2025 NSW Open Pennant season, our Caringbah sides once again showed the heart, spirit, and camaraderie that have been hallmarks of our year. Round 10 was a pivotal day, with important results, tremendous efforts, and a real sense of pride as we reflect on how far we have come in our first year of the club rebuilding phase.

Grade 3 v Leichhardt – 82-40 (10-0)
Grade 3 entered the final round leading their section and knew a strong win would seal top spot and a major semi-final berth. They came up against an understrength Leichhardt side but didn’t leave anything to chance, coming out with intensity from the very first bowl. After racing to a 20-shot lead after just 10 ends, they continued to dominate across all rinks to secure an emphatic 82-40 (10-0) victory.
The standout rink this week was the team of David Supple, Peter Stanes, Wayne Bolton, and Mark Willey, who produced a clinical 30-10 win.
A special congratulations to Bobby Bartlett, who capped off an outstanding season by taking out the Grade 3 Player of the Year honors on BowlsLink—an incredible individual achievement that reflects his consistency and impact throughout the season & as head coach of the Rams this season.
With this result, our Grade 3 side finishes first in their section and will now face Wests Leagues in the major semi-final on May 10th at Taren Point, with the winner progressing straight through to the Grand Final. We are immensely proud of what you have achieved already in our first year at this level, and we can’t wait to see what’s still to come!

Grade 5 v Engadine Black – 54-57 (1-9)
Grade 5 headed to Engadine to face the third-placed Engadine Black side in what was always going to be a tight and hard-fought encounter. True to form, the match went right down to the wire.
Locked at 54-all heading into the last end, our Rams showed incredible determination but were unlucky as Engadine played some brilliant closing bowls to edge out the win by just 3 shots.
The standout rink this week was the team of Maria Bettini, Michael Lew, Rebecca Turnbull and Barry Whitton, who produced a an awesome 22 – 16 win.
While the result didn’t fall our way, it was a fantastic effort by the team in their first season together, a group made up of both seasoned players and emerging talent. Congratulations to every player who represented Grade 5 this season—you were competitive in a strong section and have laid the groundwork for even greater success next year.

Grade 7 v Taren Point Green – 51-54 (0.5-9.5)
Grade 7 made the short journey to Taren Point for their final clash of the season. Both teams were keen to finish on a high, and the match lived up to the occasion—another close battle that could have swung either way.
In the end, it was Taren Point who narrowly came away with the chocolates, edging Caringbah by just 3 shots. Nevertheless, our Grade 7 team can hold their heads high. They have shown enormous growth, spirit, and commitment in what was their first season as a new squad, and they have built a solid platform & camaraderie for future success.
The standout rink this week was the team of Keith Gilmour, George Mavros, Wayne Casey and Geoff Bursill, who produced a nail biting 21 all draw.
Congratulations to all involved—the future is bright for this group of Rams!
