Caringbah Bowling Club – Round 5 Match Review (2024/25 MSEB Open Pennant)
Round 5 proved to be a tough weekend on the greens for our teams, with all three grades going down in close contests. However, there were still plenty of positives to take from the round, including some standout individual rink performances and strong ladder positions heading into the second half of the season.
Grade 3
Caringbah’s Grade 3 side put up a great team effort but were narrowly defeated by a strong Wests outfit, 49–57 (9–1). Despite the overall loss, the team remains well placed in 2nd spot on the ladder, with plenty of opportunity to bounce back next week. The combination of Stewart Murray Prior’s rink once again stood out as our best performed rink of the week, continuing their unbeaten run after 5 rounds.
Grade 5
In a spirited battle, Grade 5 went down to Engadine Black 63–72 (9–1). Geoff King’s rink continued its excellent form with a commanding 8-shot win, The 5’s currently sit 4th on the ladder and remains in striking distance of the top spots at the halfway mark.
Grade 7
Unfortunately, our Grade 7 side also fell short this week, going down to Taren Point Green 50–69 (9–1). However, there was a bright light in the performance of Bob Lumb and his rink, who notched up a well-earned 24–20 rink win to secure a much-deserved point. After five rounds, Grade 7 also sits 4th on the ladder.
