Caringbah Bowling Club – Round 6 Match Review
2024/25 MSEB Open Pennant Season
Round 6 delivered a mixed bag of results for the Rams, with our Grade 3 side producing an impressive away win, while our Grade 5 and 7 sides fought hard but were edged out by strong opposition. Despite some setbacks, there were encouraging signs across all grades, with standout rink performances and solid ladder positions keeping our finals hopes well and truly alive.

Grade 3
Our Grade 3 side bounced back in style with a fantastic victory over Alexandria Erskineville on their home turf, running out 75–56 winners (9–1). Despite experiencing their first rink loss of the season, SMP’s team gave a strong account of themselves. The other two rinks stepped up superbly, with David Supple leading brilliantly on Willey’s rink, paving the way for a dominant rink win. This crucial result sees the side firmly hold 2nd place on the ladder, well-positioned to push for a semi-final berth with four rounds remaining.

Grade 5
In a closely contested encounter, Grade 5 went down to a highly fancied Taren Point outfit, 52–61 (1–9). While the overall result didn’t go our way, Kevin Oldroyd’s rink was a standout, delivering a commanding 20-shot victory — earning the title of Best Performed Rink of the Round. The team now sits in 4th place, and with a tight ladder, a strong finish to the season could still see them make a charge toward the finals.

Grade 7
Our Grade 7 side once again battled hard but fell short against Marrickville Gold, going down 44–61 (1–9). There was, however, another highlight performance from Bob Lumb and his rink, who secured a nail-biting 19–18 win, adding a valuable point to the tally. The side currently sits in 5th place and will be looking to turn momentum in their favor in the remaining rounds.
