All Grades at Home – Team Photo Day and Big Match Energy!
A picturesque Sunday morning saw all three grades gather early at our home greens at Sylvania for the 2025 Pennant team photos – smiles were wide, shirts out (mostly), and the Rams were raring to go. The energy was good, the greens were running beautifully thanks to Jacob & Shuey, and the crowd was treated to an day of great bowls, local rivalry, and moments of excitement.

Grade 3 – Defeated Grandviews 70 – 49 (9-1)
Today’s clash against Grandviews was more than just a regular game – it was a top-of-the-table Div 1 & Div 2 battle with serious finals implications. Grandviews second on the ladder, but the Rams knew a win would help them consolidate their number one spot heading into the final round.
From the outset, all three rinks hit the ground running, and by the 35th end, the scoreboard showed a commanding 25-shot lead. Just when things looked comfortable, Grandviews found a second wind – Willey’s rink took a hit with a 5-shot end against them, and the pressure started mounting. Enter Stew Murray Prior: with nerves of steel and precision to match, he delivered a stunning draw to the ditch on the final end to secure his rink’s victory.
But the story of the day belonged to Neville “Bags” Hession’s rink. After spending the past 9 rounds mixing and matching like a bowls version of MasterChef, Bags finally found the winning recipe – and it came with a secret ingredient: his lucky charm, Mr Bobby Bartlett. Bob has been our Grade 3 good luck charm all season and currently leads the player ladder, bringing form, flair, and a bit of magic to every rink he plays. This team absolutely dominated today, finishing 35–7 – not only the best performing rink of the round but also the largest winning margin of the season. Neville was last seen modestly updating his LinkedIn profile: “Tactical Genius – Rink Chemistry Specialist.”

Grade 5 – Narrowly Defeated by South Cronulla 66 – 59 (1-9)
The 5s found themselves in another intense local derby, this time in round 2 against our neighbours South Cronulla. With Rams flags flying on all six rinks and a green full of friendly banter, it was anyone’s game from the start.
Caringbah led late into the match, the grade 3 rinks erupting especially after Candice drew a beautiful toucher to momentarily swing momentum. But the Southee’s dug deep and clawed their way back with some big bowls in the closing ends. It was heartbreak at the finish, but a fantastic game of bowls and plenty of spirit shown.
Best performing rink went to Lethlean, Murphy, Crowther & B. Whitton with a solid 25–19 win – a great team effort that kept us in the contest until the final bowl.

Grade 7 – Defeated by Engadine Black 73 – 40 (0-10)
Our 7s faced a formidable Engadine side currently sitting second on the ladder. To their credit, the Rams never backed down and put in a gallant performance despite the scoreboard not reflecting their efforts.
Midway through the match, one of our skips, Bobby Lumb, unfortunately suffered a medical incident and required ambulance support. The entire club’s thoughts and best wishes are with Bob – we’re all behind you mate & wish you a speedy recovery, and we can’t wait to see you back out on the green where you belong.

Final Round Ahead – Let’s Finish the season STRONG!
With just one round to go, Grade 3 hosts Leichhardt at home in what could be the game that seals top spot going into the semi-finals, which would give us two bites at the cherry which is important. The 5s travel to Engadine and the 7s to Taren Point – both shaping up as tough contests, but with a good showing, all sides can finish their seasons with pride.
Let’s rally together and bring home a strong finish across the board!
Go the Rams!
