It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Russell Fredrick Crowther, a long-standing member, dedicated volunteer, and much-loved friend of the Caringbah Bowling Club.
Russell passed away peacefully on Friday, 31st October 2025, aged 76 years, with his loving family by his side.
Russell was a true club man in every sense of the word. His warmth, good humour, and unwavering commitment to the club and its members were deeply valued by all who knew him. Always willing to lend a hand, Russell played a key role in organising and running Tuesday bowls, where his reliability, generosity, and friendly nature made him an integral part of our bowling community.
Sadly, Russell passed away before he was able to visit and experience the new Caringbah Bowling Club, a project he had followed closely and often spoke about with great pride and anticipation. In a touching tribute, Russell’s brother Graham and family attended the new club for a meal on Saturday night in his honour. They expressed their sincere gratitude for being able to gather in a place that held such special meaning for Russell and his connection to the club community. The club was honoured to assist at short notice and humbled to know that it provided comfort to his loved ones during this difficult time.
On behalf of the Caringbah Bowling & Recreation Club Board of Directors, the Bowling Club Committee, and all members, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Russell’s family.
Russell’s family have advised that his Funeral Service will be held on Monday, 10th November 2025, at 12:00 pm in the Woronora South Chapel, followed by a gathering at The Willarong (CBRC) from 1:30 pm to celebrate and remember Russell’s life. Family, friends, and members are warmly invited to come together to share memories and friendship.
Russell’s contribution, friendship, and dedication to Caringbah Bowling Club will be remembered with great affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
